Proceedings of the Meeting held on 06.09.2011 at RMC Kolkata

A meeting of the Executive Committee, Editorial Board and Publication committee of IMS Kolkata chapter was held on 06.09.2011 at RMC Kolkata at 05: 00 PM. Following points were discussed in the meeting:

A. Publication of JHAR :
1. JHAR is the journal of IMS Kolkata usually publishes the papers related to Meteorology and allied subjects. All scholars in the field of meteorology will be invited to forward their papers irrespective of member IMS.

2. It has been decided to publish the Journal at the end of December 2011 including Scientific Articles, Events, Review, general articles and News / Information related to Meteorology and allied subjects. Preference will be given to the papers showing new ideas / research in the field of meteorology.

3. Guide Line for the Authors are as follows:
a) Paper Size : A4
b) Font Size : 12
c) Font type : Times New Roman
d) Line Spacing : 1½
e) No. of pages : Maximum 10
f) Margins : 1 Inch each side (Top, bottom, left & right)

4. Editorial Board Comprising the following Scientists:
a) Prof. Utpal Kumar De, Emeritus Professor, Jadavpur University
b) Dr. Mridul Bose, Jadavpur University
c) Prof. Dilip Kumar Khan, Kalyani University
d) Dr. Kamal Krishna Basu, Ex-IMD
e) Mr. Devendra Pradhan, IMD
have been assigned the responsibilities for editing and finalization of the articles for publication.

5. Last date for receipt of the papers/article is 31st October 2011. All communication will be made electronically and to be sent to IMS Kolkata through e-mail id imskolkata@gmail.com


B. One day Regional Workshop during December 2011

The following points have been decided :
1. Topic of the Seminar : Pre-Monsoon Weather over Eastern Region
2. Date & venue of the seminar will be announced later.
3. Workshop will comprise invited talks on various topics related to the Meteorology, Disaster management and other allied subjects.

4. Sub-Topics of the Workshop are as follows:
a) Aspects of Local severe Storm
b) Prediction / modelling
c) Nowcasting
d) Natural devastation with respect to Local Severe Storm
e) Forecasting system
f) Disaster mitigation.
